A bit of horror, a touch of magic and bubble, bubble! (Evil laugh)
"Capable of creation and destruction, fire burns within us. Behind the thick, black smoke of our lives, we blaze with our own unique flame." Summer compelled by love but others are fueled by anger and hate. Their magic is vengeful and dangerous. This is the magic that comes to life in the pages of this book. This is an anthology of 25 stories total. The stories are all very well written, each with the author's own individual style of course. The cover art is very beautiful and eye-catching. And all in all it was a delight to read. The special thing about this book however, is that it is allowing me to do my very first spotlight segment... Rohit Sawant is the author who wrote the story entitled "Bunsen Burn and Beaker Bubble". He is the author that made this review possible. In his story Don Langham is a jealous and spiteful sociopath who turned psychopath when he decides to set fire to one of his teachers houses. Through this tragedy a witch comes out of her broom closet to cast a revenge spell upon Don. No one could ever be THAT into Edgar Allan Poe's writing! (Evil laugh again). Rohit's writing is a bit difficult to follow at first. He seems to take metaphors in creative writing to an extreme that not many are used to anymore. The very beautiful in its in its own right it seems to almost clash with the new age and edgy language that is used throughout the story. Those two elements separately however would make for a more easily understandable story. The plot was amazing however and the story idea made me chuckle out loud. Very reminiscent of Poe himself. He would be very proud to have read your story Rohit! Bravo! I would definitely look forward to reading more from this author as well as the other authors in this book.
