Amazing story!
Bastian is a little boy all to himself. since his mother died his father doesn't seem to have time for him anymore. The other kids at school pick on him. He is the chubby unliked kid. But when he stumbles into an old book store and steals an interesting book from the shopkeeper he decides to run away to the storage attic in his school to read the book. Little does he know that this isn't any ordinary book. Bastian is about to get more than he bargained for! Ah the memories... I loved this movie when I was a kid. I still love it today as an adult. Reading the book was a very interesting experience for me. As I got to reminisce about the memories of the movie I also got to learn the scenes and characters that were left out of the movie. The book seems to take on a bit of a different story and has lots more depth to it which is usually the case. although the book has the same feel as the movie does. in reading the book I now know why the author was so upset about the ending of the film. The film ends almost literally in the middle of the book and has so many more adventures to tell. Perhaps they should have made the rest of the book a sequel instead of the sequel they made. Although elements of the book do show up in the first sequel. I loved reading this book and looking back on my childhood years. This is definitely a book that I recommend to anyone young or old. As long as you have an imagination you will love this book!

This book contains works by Poe, Burrage, Courier, Nesbit, Cram, Doyle, Benson and Cholmondeley.
This is a perfect book for younger readers two sample different author's works and decide what they like and what they don't. These are classic tales written by undisputed masters of the pen. What can I really say about the writing in this book? It is phenomenal to say the least. Horror is definitely my genre and reading the masters of the genre is always enjoyable for me. I love books like this because the writing does not get monotonous and changes up every chapter. Each writer has their different style and panache. Just a great read all the way around! I highly recommend it! Cute story.
"Isabel Wixon is weird. Not only does she see dead things, but her list of friends consists of a talkative ventriloquist's dummy and the gentlemanly spider that lives in her hair. Real friends? Too hard. Inventing friends is much easier. Inventing the Boatman - a terrible monster that lures kids into a strange sleeping sickness and never lets them go - probably wasn't one of her better ideas though." This book has a very cute storyline. I feel that it gets off topic a bit however. I feel that this would be better written as a short story instead of a book. The story is so simple and the plot is really straightforward which would make it a good short story. Very well written however, and written in a young adult sort of style. The illustrations are lovely. the fact that they are black and white really brings out the feeling of the story itself. I felt myself reminiscing on Alvin Schwartz's Scary Stories books. All in all it was a good quick read. I enjoyed Monty immensely and found him rather humorous... for a spider 🕷️ I can't. I'm sorry I just can't with this book. Maybe it's because the author seems to channel Homer in her writing a little bit too much for me. Maybe it's because I find the story a little disorienting as I know too much about Greek mythology. Maybe it's because I don't find the characters interesting. I honestly don't know but I just can't do it I'm bailing.
It's so sad because I REALLY wanted to like this book. I love Greek mythology, I SHOULD like this book. But I just can't. Stunning artwork.
Sleek and sexy with a little gore and heartbreak... the best type of Batman comic. The epic saga of Batman 💘 Catwoman continues. I thoroughly enjoyed this graphic novel. It was a little difficult to follow in some parts but eventually I got the story out of it. A little less straightforward than some. Still very good none the less. I need to get my hands on the rest of the series for my library. Delightfully cheesy!
The state of Florida is being overrun with green iguanas. But these aren't just any green iguanas. Definitely not the pets that you would buy at the pet store. These are aggressive. Not to mention BIG! Will anyone make it out of this mess alive? Hahaha I loved this book! Classic B-rate horror at its best. The author writes in a very to the point manner so the story is extremely easy to follow. Even though you are following through several different point of views. Like a monster movie out of the 1950s this book has a great biting wit. Great storytelling. Great book! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes horror or Monster stories, or anyone who generally likes a nice cheesy monster flick. A great plethora of information.
From how to choose your tarantula and begin cage setup, to feeding and care including ICU care, to infectious diseases, to the history behind the myths, to an overview of breeding and even catching your own... This book covers it all! Very well written and even hilarious at certain points. The reader is warned several times on several different subjects 😉. My favorite warning is that getting into the hobby of collecting tarantulas is like eating a bag of potato chips, one is never enough! LOL 😄 So very true. I almost sat and read this book in one sitting. So informative and easy to follow. Things are explained step by step in a process that is very easy for the reader to visualize and duplicate. As a new tarantula owner myself I feel like I have learned volumes from this single book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who owns or is thinking about owning tarantulas or even spiders in general. Devastatingly heartbreaking tale.
Dinah is the young daughter of Jacob. She has many aunties and together with her mother they share stories and legends and teach her the ways of womanhood under the red tent where women go once a month. But when she falls in love with a prince of a different house her father and vengeful selfish brothers will have none of it. Murder and devastation befall Dinah more times then we can count. And yet somehow she makes it through it all. Perhaps a little worse for wear and broken hearted but still in one piece. And most importantly, still remembered. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Such amazing storytelling. This book brought me to tears numerous times, and at other times I wanted to throw the book across the room. The author writes in a way that is easy to follow but still gives you a taste of the old world and the way it was before time began as we know it. Back when women kept ancient secrets about their bodies and their gods. This book is riveting and I enjoyed it immensely. It speaks of strength and courage beyond reckoning. I would recommend this book to all women everywhere! If you are a woman you need to read this book! A black beauty in dog form. 🐺
Buck is a dog that was sold from his serene California home to become a sled dog. After insurmountable odds and countless tragedies, Buck finally learns to become one with his wild side in Call of the Wild. White Fang takes us on a journey with the half sled dog half wolf dog pup who shares the same name as the book. After being sold in order to save an Indian village he becomes a fighting dog who is later saved by a kindly Sheriff that teaches him to trust man again. I think Jack London's books are popular as classics and have stood the test of time simply because of the tremendous roller coaster ride that each one takes you through. The books are skillfully written and easy to follow the heart-wrenching downfalls and short bursts of happiness as London takes you through his stories of the wild dog. London is also very skilled at making the human the villain and showing just how cruel we can be to our animal brethren. I enjoyed these books but like I said it's a roller coaster ride. It's just tragedy after tragedy and doesn't seem to lift you up very high after the tragedies until the very end when the dogs are finally liberated. I would definitely recommend these books to anyone who likes animals or enjoys classics. King's vampires 😲
Ben Mears is a writer that is returning to his hometown Jerusalem's lot after 25 years of being gone. He is coming home to write a book about the infamous Marsten House which has changed owners since he last graced the town with his presence. The new owner happens to be a vampire! Will Ben, his new friend Matt, and his new love interest Susan ever make it out of Salem's Lot alive? Ugh, King, King, King... sometimes you hit it and sometimes you miss it. This one was a miss for me which it's a little distressing because it happens to be Stephen King's favorite novel that he has written. Not to mention the subject matter is one of my favorites. However for some reason this book and I just did not click. I wanted so much to like this book and I gave it my best shot. The book is not badly written. It is written in the normal Stephen King style and is easy to follow the storyline. However also in the normal Stephen King style, there is tons of extra information that aren't really necessary for the story. This is what dragged me down with this book. The extra information just made it monotonous for me to read. I will say that I did however like the cliffhanger at the end. Very nicely done. If you like Stephen King and vampires you will probably like this book. |
