#7 "He walks. He stalks..."
Kris and Lindy are twin sisters. But when Lindy finds a ventriloquist dummy and names it Slappy, she starts getting all the attention. It's when Kris gets her own dummy to show up her sister that things get weird. Dummies aren't real... are they? #8 "She's got the monster of all problems!" Lucy is the girl who cried wolf... or monster rather. She always loved freaking out her younger brother with tales of monsters, but when she sees the library and acting rather funny one day she gets a monster scare of her own. And this time it's for real. The problem is, nobody believes her! #9 "It's the little camp of horrors!" Camp is always weird your first time going. Strange noises out in the woods, weird acting camp counselors... people disappearing? What could be terrorizing Billy and his new friends at Camp Nightmoon? #10 "There's a strange new kid on the block...." Hannah's new friend Danny is very peculiar. He falls from the roof and lands on his feet. He disappears Into thin air it seems. And the house he says he lives in is dark and empty. Almost as if a ghost were living there... #11 "If looks could kill...." Carly Beth has no idea what she wants to be for Halloween. But she knows it needs to be really scary. When she finds an old mask at a nearby party store she begs the man to let her buy the mask despite his reluctance. Everything seems good and scary at first, but when Carly Beth starts getting strange thoughts while wearing the mask and even has trouble getting it off, things start to get really creepy! #12 "It might come true." Samantha Byrd is awkward like most teenagers her age. She's also picked on a lot at school. But when she helps a strange "Crystal Woman" find her way one day she repays Samantha by granting her three wishes. What will Samantha wish for? I feel like this book ended the same way that every scary wish story ends. it did have a Twist at the end which was nice but all in all it was an okay read. #13 "Play it again, hands!" Jerome (Jerry) just moved in and has found a lovely piano in pristine condition in the attic of their new home. Consequently his parents decide to get him piano lessons. Besides having strange dreams about his piano teacher, Jerry also starts seeing the ghost of the piano's previous owner! And this ghost has a warning for Jerry... "Stay away from my piano!" This was a meh for me. #14 "Who's afraid of the big, bad wolf?" They call it Fever Swamp because those who go in it end up becoming very sick and possibly dying. Grady and Emily's parents are scientist working on experiments with the local swamp deer. but right after they move in strange things start to happen. Including the appearance of a big dog and no one seems to know where it came from. This was a good batch. There were a couple of that we're kind of meh. But otherwise five stars all the way around.
