Very different from the film.
A young girl (Coraline) discovers a secret door in the new flat that her parents and her have moved into. This door leads her to another world where the other mother is waiting for her. Will she stay there and let the other mother love her in her strange way? Or will she fight to take her life back before it is gone? The book and the film both have elements that are similar and some that are downright the same. However they are two very separate elements in their own rights. While the film has more elements to it, the book tends to be a bit darker in content. The book is very well written and easy for younger teen readers as well as adults to read. The author's writing style is blunt and to the point. There is not a lot of extra detail. but with a story like this extra detail is not really needed. All things considered I would have to say that I am still a huge fan of the film. Even though I very much enjoyed the book the film will still be my favorite in this case. Hey, it's rare but it does happen! 😜
